Making a website in 24 hours

Yesterday I decided to challenge myself by trying to roll out a new website in 24 hours. I started around 20 hours ago and it should be finished in the next hour or 2. The reason I did this was just to see if it was possible for me to get a complete site up and running in a day and it looks like I'll do it no problems. I would say I've probably spent about 10 hours at the computer during this time, dedicating between six and eight hours to the site itself.

About the site: I was looking around for some domain names and I was thinking about suitable domain names for a video site and think that I've found a pretty good one. I only registered this yesterday and this is when I decided to challenge myself to a 24 hour website turnaround. I used the videographex video theme and colour coded it to my liking. I went for a pretty bold colour scheme, not something I'd normally go for, but I went for something different for the fun of it! It might be a bit too bold on the eye, but what the hell... I created a logo in Photoshop (I think it needs more work but for a 24 hour turnaround it looks fine for now). I also included my first ever set of affiliate ads in a site, so it took me 20 or 30 minutes to register for this and tweak the look and feel to integrate with the site. I'll be launching the site tomorrow along with my new blog theme. That was one of the reasons I did this so quickly, as I included some ad space in my new blog theme and wanted something that I could advertise. I'll spend 2 to 3 hours tonight creating the content for my new site and add some seo plugins etc. Hopefully I'll have 20 or 30 videos to start me off and slowly evolve the site after that. I think I'll experiment with the site over the next few weeks to see how many visitors I can attract to the site using a new Twitter account that I'll set up tomorrow.

Yesterday, I updated the domain section of this site with a domain name that was available after Michael Jackson died a couple of days ago. I checked ripmichaeljackson.com and michaeljacksonrip.com immediately on hearing the news, and both were available. I thought about using either of them as a guestbook tribute but decided against it. I see some people are trying to sell MJ related domains for ridiculous 'unrealistic' prices, so I'm wondering did I make a big mistake, maybe these would have been worth a couple of hundred dollars each. Anyway, RIP Michael Jackson, I'm dubious about a lot of stuff that went on in his life, but there's no doubting he was and is the king of pop, and the fact that he's probably one of the most famous people that has ever lived...
