Setting deadlines for myself to get things done

I have a very busy couple of weeks ahead of me and will be going to Liverpool for one week on Thursday 18th to Thursday 25th of June. My blog might have to take a back seat during this period depending on wifi access and time I'll need to prepare for an interview I'll be doing while there. I'll be back though and I'll have completed 50 posts by the end of June as I mentioned previously.

I have made some great progress on my new blog theme and would have been on schedule to launch today but I'm busy organising for my trip away and preparing for the interview (I've also clocked up 550 miles in a 48 hour period so I'm pretty tired right now). I'm a bit disappointed with this, but I'm reluctant to upload the theme until I'm 100% happy it's completed and working correctly within each of the main browsers and all of the functionality is ok under WordPress 2.8.

To ensure everything is finished when I get back, I'm allowing myself Friday and Saturday to complete everything and have a set a deadline of 6pm on Sunday to launch my new theme. I'm probably giving myself a bit too much time but I'll have other stuff to catch up on when I return. To put some pressure on myself and ensure I deliver on this objective I've now added a countdown plugin to this blog. There's a few things I've held back on recently that I should have got completed and I haven't pushed myself too hard so I'm planning on using a countdown timer from now on to set myself deadlines for projects I need to complete and work I'll be doing on this blog. The idea of scheduling deadlines for myself in this way makes me more accountable to anyone reading this blog and I know I'll push myself a lot harder to get things done faster from now on! Have a look at the countdown time in the sidebar on the right hand side of this page and expect to see a bit more action over there from now on. I'm hoping I can use this to the advantage of any other projects that I get involved in and it helps my all round productivity in the long term!
