This morning I upgraded to WordPress 2.8 and it seems everything has worked out fine. When I started this blog, I was using WordPress 2.7 so this is the first update I've had to do my live site. To do this, I backed up my database from phpMyAdmin and created a copy of my site using Mozilla ftp. I then downloaded WordPress from here and ftp'ed the new files up to my site.

I've had a look at my site in Firefox, IE and Chrome and everything looks fine so far. Before doing the upgrade I had a look around to see what others were saying (I'll be adding links here later) and the main issue seemed to be with memory allocation in settings.php. Apparently the memory allocation is reset back to 32M. As this blog is only 6 weeks old, i wont have these problems just yet, but I will update the setting anyway just to ensure I don't have any problems.

As I said, everything seems to be fine for now. I'll have to have a closer look at the plugins and widgets and make sure everything is working as it should be. Anyway, that's all for now, I have a busy week ahead of me... starting now with a 6 hour drive to Limerick. I'll be back on Tuesday and I'm hoping I can roll out my new theme with as little problems as the WordPress 2.8 update
